Among the lecturers sponsored by AREA have been curator Nato Thompson (November 2005); artist and food activist Claire Pentecost (May 2006); cybernetics researcher and open-source activist Xabier Barandiaran (June 2006);  anti-poverty activist and community land trust organizer James Tracy (October 2006); and a discussion about the theory of Participatory Economics with Michael Albert (November 2007). The events have had audiences of between 30-80 people.
