AREA Chicago produces a print issue every 6-8 months around a specific theme. These local readers include contributions from organizers, teachers, scholars, artists and researchers of all kinds, reflecting a wide range of practices and knowledges in the city. Issue editor(s) work with an editorial collective or an issue advisory team to solicit and support submissions. It is a slow, intentional and cooperative process, as much about building relationships as it is about putting together a publication.
